Shipping company «Portoflot» forms a constituent part of JSC Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port.
The history of creating the port floating equipment unit starts from 1926, and in 1939 it received its own name «Port fleet». The initially created unit operated as a service organization, providing comprehensive services in the port of Arkhangelsk for the vessels of transport fleet; such as mooring, diverse provisions, oily and service/feces waters and dry waste removal, passenger transportation.
Since 1995 the Port fleet vessels, apart from traditional intra-port works, are successfully employed at coastal traffic of all cargo types (including oil cargos) and sea towages at White, Barents and Kara Sea basins.
In 2001, in order to fit with the new main type of activity (sea transportation and towages), the Port fleet was renamed into Shipping Company «Portoflot», with acceptance of appropriate documents, governing its activity.
In 2002 the Shipping Company was certified by the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping, proving its conformity to the International Safety Management Code and entered into international database of shipping companies.
The Company tugs successfully accomplished a number of sea towages from Arkhangelsk to the ports of Norway and the Netherlands, as well as to St. Petersburg.
Another line of activity of Shipping Company «Portoflot» is chartering of vessels for any kind/traffic of cargo.
In total, Shipping Company «Portoflot» together with its supervised vessels carried over 400 000 tons of various cargos by sea and accomplished over 100 sea towages.
Vessels of the company «Portoflot» are: seagoing bunkering tanker «Orlets», sea tugs: «Jijghin», «Morjovets», «Turiy», self-propelled sea pontoon «Kenitsa», sea deck-barge «BAMP-12».
