Scheme EKONOMIYA Port-area

The loading/ unloading area «Ekonomia» is located in 25 km from the centre of Arkhangelsk, 18.5 nautical miles from the Pilot Buoy. Ekonomia operates seven berths with the overall length of 1162 meters. Fixed depths provide safe pilotage and convenient moorage for vessels with carrying capacity up to 25 000 tons and draft up to 9.5 meters. The main list of cargo handling includes containers, pulp and paper, plywood, construction material, chemical load, timber, fertilizers, equipment and bulk cargo.

The open storage area amounts to 203 331 square meters, covered storage area equals to 21 591 square meters, at the permissible draft on the berth 8,9–9,6 m. Seven berths are equipped with 15 portal cranes of various capacity from 16 up to 40 tons. The area disposes of extensive rehandling facilities. These are modern machines of leading rehandling equipment companies: «Hyster», «Kalmar», «Toyota» etc, autoloaders with carrying capacity from 1.5 tons up to 25 tons, port tow truck «Mitsubishi», roll-trailers fleet, payloaders of different modifications and other transport.

The port-area of «Ekonomia» possesses the only modern container terminal in the North, which allows to handle up to 75 000 TEUs per year. The cargo safety and integrity in the course of its handling and location in the port is guaranteed due to twenty-four-hour service of the special paramilitary Security Service.

Taking into account the availability of port reserves, one may speak of considerable potential for formation of new cargo traffic and expand production capacities in prospect.

The modernization of the existing productive capacities, introduction of high information technologies – all these factors strengthen the intention of potential partners and investors to include/regard Arkhangelsk traffic center as a link of International transport corridor «North-South».
